West ruins Swift's big night at the VMAs with Beyonce protest
(Monday September 14, 2009 05:26 AM)Kanye West was up to his old tricks at the MTV Video Music Awards in New York on Sunday night when he stormed the stage to protest the night's first honour.
The rapper interrupted Best Female Video award winner Taylor Swift as she was making her acceptance speech to proclaim Beyonce's Single Ladies was "the best video".
The outspoken star grabbed the microphone form a shocked Swift and declared, "Taylor, I'm really happy for you, I'm gonna let you finish, but Beyonce had one of the best videos of all time."
His protest was greeted by jeers and boos from the Radio City Music Hall crowd as a stunned Beyonce looked on from the audience and a speechless Swift held back tears as fans started chanting her name.
